JASON F. POPLASKI
was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He attended Wilkes University, graduating cum laude with a Bachelors in Business Administration degree in 1998. Mr. Poplaski continued his education at Syracuse University College of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctorate degree in 2001.
While in law school, Mr. Poplaski was the business editor for The Digest, an Italian-American legal journal.
In addition, he also served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Mark A. Ciavarella in the Luzerne County Court of Common Pleas and as a Summer Litigation Associate for Horigan, Kluger & Quinn, P.C.
After law school, Mr. Poplaski sat for the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Examinations in July 2001, and was admitted to both Bars in December 2001. Thereafter, he served as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Margarita Patti Worthington in the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas.
In June 2002, Mr. Poplaski began working in the Lycoming County Public Defender's Office as an Assistant Public Defender, where he defended criminal cases as minor as traffic violations and as severe as Attempted Murder. Mr. Poplaski represented clients in cases involving Parole Violations and Child Support Contempt, as well as parents in cases involving Children and Youth Services. Mr. Poplaski also served as a guardian for incapacitated individuals.
In August 2005, Mr. Poplaski began working as an Associate Attorney in the law firm of Perciballi & Williams, LLC. There he handled domestic relations cases, commercial and general litigation matters, immigration matters, and both State and Federal criminal cases.
Mr. Poplaski became a member of the New York State Bar in April 2009, and is a founding member of Goettel, Poplaski & Dunn, PLLC. He intends to concentrate his practice in the areas of both State and Federal criminal defense, domestic relations law, immigration law, and general litigation.
Before relocating to the Jefferson County, New York, area, Mr. Poplaski served as a member of the board of directors for the Children's Development Center, a not-for-profit organization that provides individualized services to children with special needs from birth to age 21. There, he served on the development committee, and assisted with reviewing and updating the organization's by-laws. Mr. Poplaski was also a board member and past vice-president of Consolidated Sportsmen of Lycoming County. Mr. Poplaski assisted in managing CSLC's 240 acre shooting range in addition to promoting firearms safety and education as an NRA certified firearms safety instructor.
MATTHEW R. DUNN
was born in Gloversville, New York. Upon graduating from Gloversville High School in 1994, Mr. Dunn attended Syracuse University where he received a B.A. in Political Science in December 1997 and a J.D. from Syracuse Law School in May 2001. While attending law school, Mr. Dunn was the President of the Environmental Law Society for the 1999-2000 academic year, and was also elected as a University Senator for 2000-2001.
During law school, Mr. Dunn interned for the Federal Court in the Northern District of New York, as well as clerked for firms in both Syracuse and Oswego, New York.
Mr. Dunn sat for the New York State Bar Exam in July 2001, and was admitted to the New York State and Federal Bar in or about February 2002. Mr. Dunn has concentrated his practice in the areas of Domestic Relations Law, Bankruptcy and Debtor-Creditor litigation.
Mr. Dunn is a founding member of Goettel, Poplaski & Dunn, PLLC, and has expanded his horizons by joining the assigned counsel network for Jefferson County, Lewis County Family and St. Lawrence County Courts.
